Built in former East German city of Leipzig, this stadium was specifically built for the 2006 Fifa World Cup.
This new stadium is built inside the was of the original stadium built in Leipzig in 1954. The original stadium was the largest in Germany with a capacity of 100 000 people. Bridges connect the old to the new allowing specators to move from the old stadium walls to their covered seats in the new stadium.
